Tutorial Programme

Work planners, schedulers, cost estimators and site managers need a great knowledge base. This knowledge relates not only to work preparation, time scheduling, cost estimating and site organization, but also to leadership, communication, the right method of working and the right way to solve problems. They must communicate their elaborations as accurately as possible so that others can understand them without any questions. They should always present their work correctly to all other project participants, even if they have different opinions about, for example, technical issues, execution times, costs and other matters. This requires a lot of communication skills. An economical way of working is another important skill that a work planner and cost estimator needs.

Trainings and tutorials by Laurenz Goerres

A training course can be organized as an online course or as a face-to-face course. As a lecturer, I prefer that at least some students attend the course in person. This makes it easier for me to address problems or special interests and to respond better to the audience. In addition, the students present will help me with the course management. Online participants must note that they need the correct setup at home. Please see the following picture and check your setup at home.

To follow the course online at home the following setup is recommended:

  • two screens (one screen to watch the course and another screen to follow the training)
  • an external keyboard
  • an external mouse (preferable a scroll mouse to zoom in and out - a touchpad will not be sufficiant)
  • headset and camera (I would like to see the participants)
  • basic MS Office software packages (means: Word, Excel, PowerPoint). The training is designed so that no special software is required, so almost anyone can participate online from home. The MS Office package should be in English language.
  • stable internet access
